Rubbish Removal for Enfield

Enfield has two public reuse and recycling centres listed by the North London Waste Authority. Barrowell Green is in Winchmore Hill. The Edmonton EcoPark centre is at 1 Lee Park Way (N18 3BJ). Barrowell Green has a rule that catches people out: you must book an appointment to enter by vehicle, even in a car. Vans, trailers and pick-up trucks need a permit as well as the booking. For a quick drop with a car boot of recycling, it means planning ahead. For heavier loads such as rubble, a garden clearance or a van full of junk, the limits below decide whether doing it yourself is realistic, or whether a waste carrier makes more sense.

Across the authority's network, each north London resident can make six van bookings in a year. A vehicle with no seats in the back counts as a stripped vehicle and needs a booking too. Trade waste is not accepted at any of the centres, so waste left by a builder or a gardener cannot be dropped off by them.

Enfield Council also collects bulky items from homes. The council describes the service as free for furniture and other non-electrical bulky items. Up to six items can be booked per collection, and your free day is set by your postcode. Electrical items are handled through a separate service.

Several types of waste are left out of that free collection. These include bricks and building material, garden waste, gas bottles, tyres, rubble and soil, glass panels, windows and patio doors.

If you pay someone to take rubbish away, check that they are authorised to carry waste. Government guidance lets councils fine a householder up to £600 when waste is handed to an unauthorised carrier.
