The Brief · Maidenhead
Office Clearance for Maidenhead
Maidenhead's businesses have been under closer watch on waste since early 2025. In February that year, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead started a crackdown on town centre fly-tipping in Maidenhead. Firms were reminded of their duties and warned to expect more inspections, at which they would have to show a waste plan and name their registered provider. By March 2026 the borough had issued more than 2,750 fixed penalty notices for littering and fly-tipping since April 2025. For an office clearance, that means the paperwork is as important as the van. Desks, filing cabinets, chairs and computers from a business are commercial waste. They cannot go to the council's tip on Stafferton Way or into anyone's household bin. Here is what the borough expects when an office in Maidenhead is cleared.
The Stafferton Way recycling centre refuses commercial waste outright. The borough also says that once someone has been paid to take rubbish away, that rubbish counts as commercial waste, even if it came from a home. So a clearance firm cannot use Stafferton Way for your office contents, and neither can a member of staff with a hired van. Traders must pay to use a site that takes commercial waste.
The penalties have gone up. Fly-tipping now carries a £500 fixed penalty in the borough, and the most serious cases can lead to court fines of up to £50,000. Anyone who takes waste away for a fee must hold a waste carrier's licence, and a legal operator will give you a waste transfer note.
Recycling rules apply as you clear. Since 31 March 2025, businesses have had to arrange separate collection of glass, metal, plastic, paper and card, and food waste. Micro-firms with fewer than 10 full-time equivalent staff are exempt until 31 March 2027.
The borough also asks the public to report firms. If you suspect a business has no proper waste contract, or see it leaving waste by street bins or in household bins, you can report it as an environmental crime.

Answers
Maidenhead FAQs
Can an employee take our old office chairs to Stafferton Way in their own van?+
No. Stafferton Way does not accept commercial waste. Office furniture from a business is commercial waste, whoever drives it there. The site also bars Luton and long-wheelbase vans and has a 2.1 metre height barrier.
What will a Maidenhead enforcement officer ask to see?+
Under the borough's 2025 town centre campaign, businesses were told to expect to evidence their waste management plans and the registered provider they use. Keep your waste transfer notes to hand.
