The A421 is Bedford's link to the M1, joining it at junction 13, which National Highways names Milton Keynes South and Bedford. East of the town, that road is changing. National Highways is building a new 10-mile A421 dual carriageway from the Black Cat junction to Caxton Gibbet. It plans to open most of it in spring 2027, then the new A1 underpass at Black Cat in mid-summer 2027. Until the underpass opens, A1 traffic keeps using the Black Cat roundabout. So a car heading to Cambridge, St Neots or up the A1 may take a different line next year. None of this changes how you book. Enter both postcodes and you get a fixed price, from £120. Open bidding boards were built for furniture and freight — not for vehicles carrying six- and seven-figure valuations. When a job is broadcast to an anonymous pool, you often don't know who is coming, or what insurance they hold, until the day. Vehicall works the other way round. Your car travels on a vetted partner transporter, and the partner, the price and the partner's insurance cover for your car's full value are confirmed before you're charged.
We say plainly what we own: one Luton van, which isn't built to carry cars. We don't own a car transporter, so every car moves with a partner. What we do is the checking — which partner is coming, that their insurance covers your car's full value, and that the price you were quoted is the one you pay — before your card is charged.

Car transport & recovery across the UK
Bedford Borough Council only suspends parking bays inside its Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). Send the form at least 14 days before the date. The first day costs £47.80 per application, which can cover several bays in one parking place. Each extra day is £16 per bay or car length. Warning notices go up at least 4 days ahead. Only the vehicles listed on the application can load in the suspended bays, and the transporter is only known once a partner is confirmed, so leave time for that.
Without a suspension, any vehicle can load on a yellow line for up to 15 minutes, provided no loading restriction applies. For longer stops, the council sells waivers at £8.10 for up to 4 hours or £16.15 for longer. It doesn't issue them outside the CPZ, or for trailers, and a waiver never covers a verge or footway.
Buying or selling through BCA? The borough's environmental permit register lists BCA Fleet Solutions premises at two sites. One is Thurleigh Airfield Business Park, MK44 2YP, north of the town. The other is Coronation Business Park on Kiln Road, Kempston Hardwick, MK43 9PR, to the south. Give us the exact postcode on the paperwork, because they're on opposite sides of the town.
